Linda Sylvia Thomas Allen age 66, of Union Grove, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at her residence. Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Brindlee Mountain Chapel with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Brindlee Mountain Chapel.

James Brenon Hallmark  age 75, of Holly Pond, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral Service was Sunday July 20, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in Rice Cemetery.  Visitation was from 6 PM until 8 PM Sat. at Gober Funeral Chapel. 

Lola Faye Hallmark  age 84, of Arab passed away Sat. July 19, 2014 at her residence.  Funeral Service was Monday July 21, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in Blue Springs Cemetery.  Visitation was Sunday from 6 PM until 8 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel. 

Bobby T. Ward age 74, of Albertville passed away Tues. July 15, 2014, at Marshall Medical Center South.  Funeral Service will be Friday July 18, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in New Home Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 PM until time for the Service at 2 PM. Mr. Ward is the Brother of Peggy Wilks of Arab.

Past Service Announcement...


Roy M. Whisenant, 58 of Lacey's Spring, the Morgan City Community died Friday, July 25, 2014 in Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Whisenant was born in Madison County, November 12, 1955, the son of Roy C. and Inez Edwards Whisenant and was a lifetime resident of Morgan City Community. He was also a high school graduate and a college graduate.

He is survived by a brother: Jack Puckett; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Jimmie Whisenant Owen and Bryant and Meredyth Jo and George Wangerow; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside service was 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Union Grove Cemetery, Morgan City, Brother Charlie Hollaway, officiating. Burial was also in Union Grove Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.

Past Service Announcement...


Glenda Biddle Curtis, age 60 of Arab died Friday, July 25, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Curtis was born July 11, 1954 in Ft Payne, Alabama DeKalb County, the daughter of Glenn L. and Betty Biddle. She has called Arab her home for the past 37 years.

She loved her family and was a big supporter of Marshall County Relay For Life. She was a member of Rice Baptist Church, New Market.

She is survived by her husband: Steven Curtis; a son and daughter-in-law: Christopher and Brooke Hemphill; a daughter and son-in-law: Melisa and Mitchell Stone; step sons and spouse: Kyle Curtis and Devin and Katherine Curtis; grandchildren: Landon Stone, Brody Hemphill, Eva Grace and Presley Hemphill; her parents: Glenn L. and Betty Biddle and a brother and sister-in-law: Gerald and Vida Biddle.

Graveside service was 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Brookwood Cemetery, Reverend Douglas Hemphill, officiating. Burial was also in Brookwood Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Pallbearers were Brian Benefield, Zac Biddle, Devin Curtis, Adam Lovell, Mitchell Stone and Brad Watts.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.

The family will accept flowers - or - in lieu of flowers please make memorial donations in memory of Glenda to Hospice of Marshall County, 408 Martling Road; Albertville, AL 35951.

To those who bring food...

Please bring all food to the Arab First United Methodist Church's Fellowship Hall where a "Celebration of Glenda's Life" will continue after the graveside service on Sunday.

Past Service Announcement...



David W. Mangum, age 78 of Somerville, the West Point Area died Friday, July 25, 2014 in Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Mangum was born June 21, 1936 in Marshall County, the son of Burtis M. and Ollie Mangum. He was married to the former Dorothy Golden. He was a devoted member of West Point Baptist Church having served as Deacon, song leader and Sunday School Teacher.

He worked 40 years at Redstone Arsenal as a machinist and machined parts for the early space program. He loved his family, enjoyed farming and gardening.

He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Mangum; a son and daughter-in-law: David and Cheryl Mangum; a daughter and son-in-law: Joan and Keith Pullen; 5 Grandchildren: Tara Grimes (Josh), Caleb Mangum (Chelsea), Kacie Mangum, Samuel Mangum and Anna Mangum; 1 great granddaughter: Olivia Grace Grimes; a sister and brother-in-law: Gelene and Alvin Hodge; preceded in death by his parents: Burtis and Ollie Mangum of Nixon's Chapel.

Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at West Point Baptist Church, Brother Harry Saint, officiating. Burial was in the West Point Cemetery, Brindlee Mountain Chapel and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

His Grandsons were pallbearers.

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel, Morgan City. He also Lied-In-State at the Church on the day of the service from 1 to 2 p.m.
