James Brenon Hallmark age 75, of Holly Pond, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral Service will be Sunday July 20, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in Rice Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6 PM until 8 PM Sat. at Gober Funeral Chapel. 

Lola Faye Hallmark age 84, of Arab passed away Sat. July 19, 2014 at her residence.  Funeral Service will be Monday July 21, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in Blue Springs Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 6 PM until 8 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel.

Bobby T. Ward age 74, of Albertville passed away Tues. July 15, 2014, at Marshall Medical Center South.  Funeral Service will be Friday July 18, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in New Home Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 PM until time for the Service at 2 PM. Mr. Ward is the Brother of Peggy Wilks of Arab.

Dewitt "Dee" Hyatt age 87, of Union Grove passed away Monday July 14, 2014, at Marshall Manor Nursing Home.  Funeral Service will be Thursday July 17, 2014, at 11:30 AM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Arab Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10 AM until time for the Service at 11:30 AM. 

Sue Hooten King age 78, of Joppa passed away Friday July 11, 2014, at her residence.  Funeral Service was Sunday July 13, 2014, at 2 PM at Corinth Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.  Visitation was Sat. from 6 PM until 9 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel.  

James Welton Tidmore age 76, of Arab passed away Friday July 11, 2014, at his residence.  Funeral Service was Sunday July 13, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in New Friendship Cemetery.  Visitation was Sat. from 6 PM until 8 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel. 

Barry Lance Travis age 67, of Arab passed away at his residence.  Funeral Service was Monday July 14, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in Gilliam Springs Cemetery.  Visitation was from 1 PM until 2 PM Monday at Gober Funeral Chapel. 


Lawrence Lambert, age 40 of Arab passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Huntsville Hospital. Memorial Service was held at Liberty Church in Arab on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. 


Margaret Faye Cantrell  age 76 of Arab passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at her residence. Memorial Service was Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Gober Funeral Chapel. 

Wanda Lou Clements , age 71 of Arab passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Huntsville Hospital.  Funeral Service was Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in Rice Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Gober Funeral Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.

Martha May  , age 84 of Guntersville passed away   Thursday  , June 19, 2014 at Marshall Manor Nursing Home. Funeral Service was Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at Gober Funeral Chapel with burial in Brookwood Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 3:00 P.M.

David Allen  age 56, of Arab passed away Monday June 9, 2014, at his residence.  Funeral Service was Thurs. June 12, 2014, at 11 AM at Old Brashier's Chapel United Methodist Church with burial in Bethany Cemetery in Horton, AL.  Visitation was Wednesday from 5 PM until 8 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel. 

Tammy Branson age 52, of Guntersville passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Marshall Medical Center North. Funeral Service was Sat. June 7, 2014, at 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel.  Visitation was from Noon until 2 PM at Gober Funeral Chapel.

Ralyn Kai Hunter Thrower, 4 month old son of Chad and Markeda of Arab died Saturday, July 19, 2014.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel to help with funeral expenses.

Max Tidmore, 84 of Arab died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Tidmore, a life time resident of Marshall County was born December 4, 1929, the son of Robert R. and Bertha Tidmore. He and his wife, the former Georgia Boyd were married 63 years July 8, 2014.

He was a self employed farmer and slaughter house operator and a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. He loved his family, enjoyed gardening and was a one time Farmer of Year for Marshall County.

He is survived by his wife: Georgia Tidmore; three sons and a daughter-in-law: Benjamin Tidmore, Roger Lee and Debbie Tidmore and Alan Daryel Tidmore; a daughter and son-in-law: Ronda and Rickey Alldredge; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Rayburn and Brenda Tidmore, Danny and Martha Tidmore and Donnie and Ressie Tidmore; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Nella Jo and Jimmy Howard and Lora and Delbert Nunnelley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, his church family and many dear friends and neighbors.

Preceded in death by two sons: Max Oneal Tidmore and Thomas Ricky Tidmore; a great grandson: Eric Cody Rush; his parents: Robert R. and Bertha Tidmore; four brothers: Glynn, Lendon, Billy and Bobby Tidmore and three sisters: Ovalene Benefield, Nell Willis and Rebecca Thomas.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Brother Jerald Adams, officiating. Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Pallbearers will be Steven Holliday, Ben Rush, Drew Shields, Lynn Tidmore, Raymond Tidmore and Frank Willis.

Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.

Dale Causey Murphree, 56 of the New Home Community, Holly Pond died Friday, July 18, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Murphree was born March 15, 1958 in Marshall County, the daughter of Ross and Lattie Causey. She was a Homemaker and a graduate of Wallace State College.

She is survived by a son: Clint Murphree; a daughter and son-in-law: Leesa and Chris Hayes; a granddaughter: Chloe Hayes and a grandson: Alex Hayes; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Bennie and Janette Causey and Wendal and Carol Causey; a sister and brother-in-law: Melba and Cotton Hall; three sisters-in-law: Donna Moon, Vickie (Ethan) Yarbrough and Marge (Glenn's former wife) and her mother and father-in-law: Frank and Viola Murphree and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her husband: Franky Murphree, her parents: Ross and Lattie Causey and Gwennelle Causey and a brother: Glenn Causey.

Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Brother Milford Hays, officiating. Burial was in New Home Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Pallbearers were David Causey, Jason Hall, Keith Hayes, Floyd Maroney, Brandon Pannell, Ernie Preston, Andrew Yarbrough, Ethan Yarbrough and Phillip Kelsoe as Honorary Pallbearer.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.

Margaret Mahan Cooley, 75 of Union Grove and a former resident of the Grassy, Shoal Creek area died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Marshall Medical Center North.

Mrs. Cooley was born March 11, 1939 in Marshall County, the daughter of William H. and Eular Mahan. She was a homemaker and also worked as a clerk several years ago at Cooley's Grocery and Tackle Store located on the Guntersville Dam Road.  She was a member of Bonds Chapel Church.

She and her husband, Robert Cooley were married 50 years when he preceded her in death February 1, 2006; she was also preceded in death by a son: Tim Cooley, her parents: William and Eular Mahan, three brothers: Bill, Herman and Bertis Mahan and three sisters: Mary Lawson, Ollie Buchanan and Dollie Buchanan.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Tony and Mary Cooley; a daughter and son-in-law: Becky and Ed Jones; 8 grandchildren and spouses: Jeff (Jamie) Jones, Brandy Cooley, Misti Conner, Nikki (Danny) Schrader, Scott (Megan) Cooley, Brian Cooley, Cindi (Mark) Black and Sonya Caswell; 12 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, a brother: Densil Mahan and her Golden Living Family.

Funeral Service was 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Brother Jerry Burgett, officiating with eulogies by Jeff Jones and Scott Cooley and songs by Tim Maze. Burial was in Sweet Home Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Pallbearers were Houston Black, Hunter Black, Mark Black, Brian Cooley, Scott Cooley, Jeff Jones and Danny Schrader.

Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.

Ruth Collins Briscoe, 89 of Arab died Thursday, July 17, 2014 in Marshall Medical Center North.

Mrs. Briscoe was born August 3, 1924 in Morgan County, the daughter of Elbert L. and Elsie Mae Collins. She was a graduate of Ryan School and a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.

Mrs. Briscoe is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Jimmy and Ingrid Briscoe and John Elbert and Susan Briscoe; a daughter and son-in-law: Janice and Larry Tidmore; a sister-in-law: Wanda Collins and brother-in-law: Derlene Denney; 6 grandchildren: Debbie Maddox, Jason Briscoe, Jeremy Briscoe, Tyler Barnes, Jamie Light and Jason Golden; 9 great grandchildren: Allie Briscoe, Makayla Briscoe, Tia Turpen, Mackenzie Alexander, Clayton Golden, Mason Golden, Collin Golden, Ethan Light and Kamryn Barnes; a brother and sister-in-law: Elbert L. and Daphine Collins and a sister and brother-in-law: Judy and Charles Tidmore; several nieces, nephews, other family members, her church family and many dear friends and neighbors.

Preceded in death by her husband: Grover Briscoe, a daughter-in-law: Diana Briscoe, grandchildren: Marcie Golden and Tommy Jackson, her parents: Elbert L. and Elsie Mae Collins, a brother: John Collins and sisters: Betty Stiles, Dovie Denney and Lurlene Thompson.

Funeral service was 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Brother Kenneth Smith, officiating. Burial was in Brookwood Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.

Pallbearers were Tyler Barnes, James Edwards, Clayton Golden, Jason Golden, Adam Lake, Michael Light, Kevin Maddox and Sammy Waldrop.

Honorary Pallbearers were Jason Briscoe, Jeremy Briscoe, Collin Golden, Mason Golden, Ethan Light and Andrew Turpen.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. also on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
