RSVP Announces May Programs
Seniors
can learn how to have fun playing “theater”
games… what foods protect them again
illness…how they age…and how to catch fish
on Lake Guntersville… all during the month
of May at Marshall County RSVP.
Registration and pre-payment are required
for the classes and can be completed at the
RSVP Center, located behind Mike’s
Merchandise in Guntersville.
Classes and their schedules are:
Stages: At Play, a fun improvisation
workshop conducted by Finie Higgins, a
former theater teacher, director and
playwright. Designed specifically for the
RSVP set, participants will experience the
basics in theatre games and techniques while
enhancing their creativity, “act”ivity and
sense of self and humor. No acting
experience is necessary…an adventure for
body, mind and spirit. Monday, May 12.
10:00-noon (a break for lunch-brown bag it)
and 1:00-2:00. Cost: $10.
Foods That Help Protect Against Illness:
Health and Wellness consultant Shirley
Powell of Temple Care in Guntersville shares
nutritional information about foods that
strengthen senior bodies and protect against
osteoporosis, Parkinson Disease, diabetes
and other illnesses. 2-day session.
Tuesdays, May 13 and 20. 1:00. Cost: $10
Hook, Line and Sinker Get acquainted
with the basics of fishing including
different types of fishing equipment, bait
and lures for this area, how to cast and
much more. Fishing guide/instructor Doug
Campbell says it’s an ideal class for the
ladies, but the guys can get some helpful
tips. Monday, May 19, 1:30. Cost: $5
How We Age: Physically & Mentally An
overview of the natural process of aging and
how to keep on track with physical and
mental well-being. Instructor is Jennifer
Rainwater, Mountain Lakes Behavioral
Healthcare. Wednesday, May 28, 10:00-noon.
