Arab
running back, Taylor Guess has announced his intention to
sign a football scholarship with Samford University.
Guess said he would officially sign with Samford within the
week. Guess, who missed the final two games of the
2005 season due to a knee injury in the Buckhorn game, had
ACL repair surgery in November and has been undergoing
physical rehab to strengthen the knee.
In an interview
with Archie Anderson of WRAB, Coach Keith Garner, said that
despite his injuries, Guess was a big part of everything the
Knights did during the season. Garner said he was
excited for Taylor and his opportunity to play at Samford
and the opportunity to possibly play with his brother Drew
Guess who also plays for Samford. Guess hopes to be at
least 85% rehabbed by the time practice begins.
Taylor, who is
the son of Barry and Teresa Guess of Arab, received
the Beamon Lyons Award for Excellence during the annual
football banquet held in December. In addition, Guess
received the Best Running Back Award, Highest GPA Award and
Permanent Team Captain Award during the banquet
