Arab Fire Rescue

This two vehicle accident
at the intersection of North Main Street and 12th Ave sent
one victim to Marshall Medical Center North by ambulance.
One patient was treated at the scene and declined transport
to the hospital.

Arab Police, Fire Rescue
and Rescue Squad personnel were kept busy responding to
wrecks early Wednesday.
The first
wreck occurred around 9:30 a.m. when a two cars collide at
the intersection of North Main Street and 12th Ave.
Rodwell King, 83 of Union Grove was transported to MMCN for
evaluation with only minor injury. Paul Curcio, 73 of Arab
was not injured. Each were the drivers of the two vehicles.
One vehicle collided with a utility pole after the initial
impact with the other vehicle. A representative of Arab
Electric Coop was on-scene to inspect the pole for damage.
Arab Police and Arab Fire Rescue responded to the call.
Just before 11:00 Arab
Fire & Rescue, Arab Police & Arab Rescue Squad were dispatched
to a car accident with a roll-over at the red light at
Brindlee Mountain Parkway and 4th
Ave NW, in front of Clayton Chevrolet.
Larry Phillips, the driver of the
overturned vehicle, a 1989 Ford minivan, was ejected from the
vehicle during the collision and was briefly trapped underneath
the vehicle. Phillips, age 50 is from Wellford, South
Carolina.
Arab Fire and Rescue Assistant
Chief Tony Cox, who was first on-scene, said the victims head
was trapped underneath the vehicle. Cox, along with some
by-standers, lifted the vehicle enough for the driver to slide
his head out from under the minivan. He was treated on the scene
for serious injuries and transported MMCN.
A passenger in the same
minivan was transported by ambulance to Huntsville Hospital.
Air-Evac and Med-Flight were initially requested to transport
the passenger but was later cancelled due to a prolonged ETA
caused by weather (fog in their base area).
Susan Peppers, age 37 of
Albertvile, the driver of a 2003 Ford Winstar
minivan was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated
by Arab Fire Rescue and Arab Rescue Squad members. She was
transported to MMCN with what appeared to be minor injuries.
