Arab Police, Fire Rescue and Rescue Squad personnel were kept busy responding to wrecks early Wednesday.

The first wreck occurred around 9:30 a.m. when a two cars collide at the intersection of North Main Street and 12th Ave.  Rodwell King, 83 of Union Grove was transported to MMCN for evaluation with only minor injury. Paul Curcio, 73 of Arab was not injured. Each were the drivers of the two vehicles.  One vehicle collided with a utility pole after the initial impact with the other vehicle. A representative of Arab Electric Coop was on-scene to inspect the pole for damage.  Arab Police and Arab Fire Rescue responded to the call.

Just before 11:00 Arab Fire & Rescue, Arab Police & Arab Rescue Squad were dispatched to a car accident with a roll-over at the red light at Brindlee Mountain Parkway and 4th Ave NW, in front of Clayton Chevrolet.

Larry Phillips, the driver of the overturned vehicle, a 1989 Ford minivan, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and was briefly trapped underneath the vehicle.  Phillips, age 50 is from Wellford, South Carolina.

Arab Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Tony Cox, who was first on-scene, said the victims head was trapped underneath the vehicle.  Cox, along with some by-standers, lifted the vehicle enough for the driver to slide his head out from under the minivan. He was treated on the scene for serious injuries and transported MMCN.

A passenger in the same minivan was transported by ambulance to Huntsville Hospital.  Air-Evac and Med-Flight were initially requested to transport the passenger but was later cancelled due to a prolonged ETA caused by weather (fog in their base area).

Susan Peppers, age 37 of Albertvile, the driver of a 2003 Ford Winstar minivan was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by Arab Fire Rescue and Arab Rescue Squad members. She was transported to MMCN with what appeared to be minor injuries.
